Early fall colors bring little concern to tourism

Although many people are looking forward to the activities fall brings, some wonder if the early changes could put a damper on tourism.

With the changing of the leaves and the cooler air, all signs point to the return of fall.

Another sign is the Fall Ride returning to Granite Peak at Rib Mountain, and officials there said they aren't concerned about the early change.

The Fall Ride gives people the chance to ride the ski lifts and see the changing season firsthand.

For the eighth year in a row, Granite Peak will be taking riders through the woods of Rib Mountain.

People will be able to once again see the changing colors of the leaves and a gorgeous view of Wausau.

Although just two weeks away, officials at Granite Peak said even with the change, they're not worried.

It starts on Saturday, September 29th, and officials said you'll want to come early for the best views.

"We probably won't change the current schedule, right now we're looking like usual, the last weekend of September and the first two weekends of October," said Brandon Marqardt.

Officials said in the past, they've seen nearly 1,000 people ride the lifts in just a day.

The ride runs for a total of three weeks.
