People walking to stop Alzheimer's in Wausau

People are walking together in Wausau to bring awareness to Alzheimer's on Saturday.

Lynn Cumberland said her brother started seeing the signs of Alzheimer's in his early 50's.

She said over a matter of just a few years, he's lost weight and has lost most his communication skills.

Cumberland said the worst part about Alzheimer's is that it can happen to anyone.

"A lot of people have this misconception that it only happens to older people and it's happening more and more to people of middle age, you can get the disease as young as in your thirties," said Cumberland.

Registration for the Walk to End Alzheimer's starts on Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

The walk starts at 9:30 a.m. at the UW - Marathon County field house.
