PORTAGE COUNTY (WAOW) -

UPDATE - Ronald Disher will head to trial on a charge on a felony battery charge.

Authorities say Disher punched another inmate at the Portage County Jail on September 8, just days after he was arrested in connection to a fraud investigation.

Disher is charged with Battery by Prisoner.

This week a judge ruled there was enough evidence for the case to go to trial.

A pre-trial conference is set December 10, 2012.

One of the three family members involved in this case is now facing another unrelated charge.

Authorities say Ronald Disher punched another inmate at the Portage County Jail on September 8, just days after Disher was arrested in connection to a fraud investigation. He now faces a felony battery charge.

In court on Monday, a judge asked Disher why he did it. Disher didn't give a reason, but he did apologize.

Authorities say that charge will be dealt with separately from the fraud investigation in which Disher and two family members are accused of fraudulently cashing social security checks. The checks belonged to the mother of Disher's wife, Delores.
