Just one day after arguable the most controversial call in the NFL this season, Green Bay Packers fans are still upset.
"I was furious. On a scale of one to ten, I was a nine," Christa Much of Rhinelander said.
"Got to be a ten, I'm a Packers fan," Brad Larson of Marshfield said.
Fans I spoke with say the touchdown call wasn't the only thing that left them with a sour taste in their mouths.
"It was the icing on the cake of a game that had so many mistakes by the replacement referees," Paul Weber of Marshfield said.
Monday night's game brings the replacement referees under the spotlight once again, and many say something has to be done.
"It's no fun watching the game when you have referees that miss everything," Gene Stangl of Marshfield said.
"We need to get the regular referees back—this isn't just a Packers thing, it's an NFL issue," Weber said.
"Why are we even playing with these referees if they can't call games the way they are supposed to be called? What's the purpose of the game," Much said.
Some fans of the green and gold say they hope this will open up some eyes.
"I think last night's call is a good start—put pressure on Goodell by the owners," Weber said.
Diehard fans Newsline 9 spoke with say if the replacement referees are here for much longer, they might say goodbye to football—at least for now.
Scattered light snow and freezing drizzle lingers through daybreak Tuesday. Cooler and quiet the next few days.
