Cuba airs tape questioning dissident hunger strike

HAVANA (AP) -

Cuban state television has aired images raising questions about a prominent dissident's recent hunger strike.

A 15-minute special segment broadcast on the nightly news Tuesday night includes testimony from a neighbor saying he took fruit and vegetables to dissident Martha Beatriz Roque.

Video supposedly shot outside Roque's home shows someone passing food through a window to a woman inside. Her face is not visible, but the voice on the audio sounds like Roque's.

Roque and at least two dozen other activists announced a hunger strike Sept. 10 to demand the release of Jorge Vazquez, an anti-government activist imprisoned for common crimes. They called off the protest about a week later, saying the government had promised to free Vazquez.
