STEVENS POINT (WAOW) -
UW-Stevens Point football fans will be seeing a lot
of pink this weekend. It's the third annual Pink Game.
That means players won't be wearing their usual
purple and gold.
Stevie Pointer, the UW-Stevens Point mascot modeled
the jerseys. It's all to raise money for the Susan G. Komen foundation—which supports
breast cancer research.
The football coach says it's an important fundraiser
for the team.
"Have a great cause because everyone is impacted by
cancer, whether it's personally themselves, or with a family member. We're
going to raise a lot of money to prevent this disease," UWSP Football Coach Tom
Journell said.
It is also the Spud Bowl—the first 1,000 fans will
get a free baked potato.
The football team plans to auction off the pink
jerseys after the game.
