Area police agencies investigate two recent gun store thefts

Police agencies in Central Wisconsin investigate two recent gun thefts to determine if they are connected.

Sunday,  Wausau Police were called to Condition One on the city's far north side. When they arrived, they found a glass door broken. Inside the store, handguns, body armor, extension police clubs and other gear missing.

Tuesday,  a similar theft was reported at Statton's General Store near Tomahawk. A  Lincoln County Sheriff's Department spokesperson told Newsline 9 that  30 guns were taken. Officers also tell us  surveillance video leads them to believe more than one person was involved in the thefts.

Investigators from both departments met Thursday morning to compare notes. They are trying to determine if the thefts are the work of the same people.

Anyone with information should call the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department at 715-536-6272 or Wausau Police at 715-261-7800.
