NORTH CENTRAL WISCONSIN (WAOW) -
Newsline 9 recently told you about the dangers of
crashes involving deer and cars. But police say you should also be looking out
Police say even though turkeys are small, they can
cause a lot of damage to your car, and you may be seeing a lot more of them
"This time of year, definitely. The turkey population
is increasing, so there are a lot more turkeys than we used to see, and they do
like to cross the road unfortunately—especially in the more rural areas,"
Wausau Police Dept. Lt. Ben Bliven said.
Police say if there is a turkey in front of you, just
hit the brakes and do not try to swerve. Officials say swerving can cause you
to lose control.
