NHL cancels early season games

The National Hockey League has canceled the early portion of the 2012-2013 regular season.

The league says the cancellations were necessary because of the absence of a collective bargaining agreement between the NHL Players' Association and the NHL.

It's unknown if the games between October 11 and 24 can or will be made up.

The cancellation wipes out 82 regular-season games.
