WESTON (WAOW) -
High school football Thursday night pitted Newman Catholic against Owen-Withee in the Cloverwood Conference. The Cardinals hosted the Blackhawks at Stiehm Stadium in Weston.
In the first quarter the Blackhawks were already up 14-0. Owen-Withee started with excellent field position in Cardinal territory.
Bryce Niemi ran 40 yards for a Blackhawks touchdown. The extra point was also good making it 21-0 in the first quarter.
Newman's Nick Janke looked for his receiver but Dylan Giencke took it away. The freshman linebacker took it down the sidelines and was dragged down at the 11. But on the next play Tommy Schuh punched it in for a score.
The Blackhawks were up 28-0 at the end of the first and went on to win 48 to 0.
As of Thursday night Owen-Withee is a half game out of first place in the Cloverwood Conference, behind Athens who plays Friday.
