UPDATE: Phone problems in Wood County resolved

The Wisconsin Rapids Police Department says the phone problems in the area have been resolved.

Calls to 911 will now go through correctly.

Wood County Dispatch Manager Kelly Zenz tells Newsline 9 that earlier today, a cut fiber optic caused problems for many cell phone users and some land-line users in the Wood County Area.

That means many calls into the Wisconsin Rapids Dispatch Center from cell phones were not getting through.

Element Mobile Public Relations Manager Jackie Shea tells Newsline 9 that construction workers accidentally cut the fiber line around 10:30 a.m. Monday while working on Highway 66 near Wisconsin Rapids.
