UPDATE: Marathon woman dies from injuries in deer crash

MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) -

11 October 2012 - A 52 year old Marathon City woman died from injuries suffered when a deer crashed through her windshield.

Lt. Dale Wisnewski says the Marathon County Sheriff's Department was notified Wednesday night that Rebecca Karlen had died.

Investigators say a man driving west on Highway N Tuesday morning struck a deer.  The deer went airborne and crashed into the windshield of Karlen's car as she was driving east.

She lost control of her vehicle and ended up in the ditch. 


10 October 2012 - A 52 year old Marathon woman is in critical condition following a Tuesday morning crash in which a deer hit her car.

Lt. Dale Wisnewski of the Marathon County Sheriff's Department says they received a call just after 7am.  Investigators say Andrew Nelson was driving west on Highway N, about a quarter mile west of Red Bud Road in the Town of Rib Mountain.  His vehicle struck a deer which went airborne and crashed into the windshield of the woman's car as she was driving east.

She lost control of her vehicle and ended up in the ditch.  She was taken to Aspirus Hospital where she is in critical condition.

The driver of the first car was not injured.
