Wisconsin gas prices heading down

Gas prices have dipped in our state. They're down almost 30 cents from last month.

This summer, drivers say the price at the pump was almost unbearable.

"It was bad, it was bad," Dennis Haley from Marshfield said.

But now, prices are starting to fall.

"I'm glad to see them going down. I'd like to see them continue to go down," Haley added.

According to gasbuddy.com, the price of gas in Wisconsin is $3.69 per gallon, and experts say that could fall even further.

"Prices tend to decrease in the cooler months. We expected a significant decrease in late September, it appears that started late for various reasons," Gasbuddy.com petroleum expert Patrick DeHaan said.

Those reasons included refinery issues in the region and an oil spill in Adams County this summer.

"This is a lot better," Haley said.

The price of gas is now falling. But experts say that won't last for long. It's expected to rise again during the holiday season.

"If retail reports indicate that people are spending more on Christmas, it's likely that's good news. Means people are also driving more, have more discretionary income to be planning road trips," DeHaan said.

Gas experts say we could see 10-20 cents drop per gallon in the next few weeks. But for now, drivers say they're enjoying the cheaper prices.
