STEVENS POINT (WAOW) -
An event to help the hungry is lacking
volunteers for the first time in its history. The annual event is called Empty
Bowls and it's taking place at SPASH in Stevens Point.
Organizers say Empty Bowls raises more than $22,000 a
year. They say it takes 90 volunteers to put the event on – but this year, they're
about 30 short.
"Sadly, there are people that are going to bed hungry and
people that need a little bit. They shouldn't have to choose between medicine
and food or heat and food," Empty Bowls chair Lauri Rockman said.
