STEVENS POINT (WAOW) -
Mid-State Technical College broke ground on its new Stevens Point campus Thursday.
The college's new location is in the old Centerpoint Mall.
In the new $6 million facility, students will have access to larger labs and more study areas.
The 53,000 square foot building will also have two distance learning classrooms.
College administrators say the downtown area has the convenience they were looking for in a new campus location.
"What we were looking for from the college's perspective, was a location that would have visibility for our organization, convenience for our students, and that would also benefit the merchants and employers in the downtown area. And it is also on the bus line, which is another convenience that we think will make a big difference," said Dr. Sue Budjac, Mid-State Technical College President.
The Mid-State Stevens Point campus is expected to open its doors in January of 2014.
