A former Adams County deputy charged with battery and disorderly conduct has a plea hearing set for December.
Portage County assistant district attorney David Knaapen, the special prosecutor in charge of the case, told Newsline 9 Richard Sedevic will enter a plea and be sentenced on December 19 at 10:30 a.m. in Adams County.
Sedevic, 33, was charged with battery and disorderly conduct for allegedly hurting his girlfriend in June.
According to charging documents, Sedevic and the woman were arguing outside the house they shared in Adams on June 4. Prosecutors say Sedevic grabbed his girlfriend when she tried to use her cell phone to call for help, causing a bruise on the woman's arm. According to the documents, Sedevic also followed the woman down the street yelling at her.
Sedevic posted $150 bond which was later reduced to nothing, and he was ordered to have no violent or abusive behavior. A special prosecutor was appointed because of Sedevic's position with the county.
Sedevic resigned his position as an Adams County Sheriff's deputy in July after being placed on paid administrative leave, according to Sheriff Sam Wollin. Sedevic also worked as a part-time police officer at the Adams Police Department. The city administrator told Newsline 9 Sedevic's services were "discontinued."
Newsline 9 tried to contact Sedevic for comment, but his phone number had been disconnected.
