Slight risk for severe weather Wednesday

The National Weather Service reports that central and western Wisconsin are at a slight risk for severe weather Wisconsin.

StormTrack 9 Meteorologist Justin Loew says the chance for severe weather is dependent on the amount of sun the area receives. "There is a chance of severe weather late this afternoon (around 3:00 p.m. or later) but it is highly dependent on whether the sun comes out. If we have a couple hours of sunshine and the temps soar a bit more into the middle or upper 70s, then the chance of severe thunderstorms will go up quite a bit," Loew wrote in his detailed daily forecast. "In such a situation, there would be a chance of storms late today with the potential to produce large hail, high wind, or even an isolated tornado. So keep an eye on the sky. If there is more sunshine than expected we might have to deal with severe storms."

The rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue through Wednesday night and into Thursday morning, tapering off Thursday afternoon.
