WI Rapids Police officer hurt in crash released from hospital

WOOD COUNTY (WAOW) -

The Wisconsin Rapids Police officer who was hurt in a crash over the weekend is now out of the hospital.

Officials say Douglas Vanberkel, 23, was on his way to help a Nekoosa officer when he lost control and slammed into a wall.

The officer was air lifted to Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

There's still no word on what caused the crash.
