ROTHSCHILD (WAOW) - The reconstruction of Interstate 39 near Rothschild is causing some nighttime lane closures and detours. The state Department of Transportation says the southbound lanes will close Tuesday from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Wednesday, with traffic being detoured onto state Highway 29 and Business 51. Halloween is on Wednesday, but hundreds of kids got to do some early trick-or-treating.

They got to go door-to-door at the Grand Lodge Water Park in Rothschild Monday. It's the event's second year. A lot of people in a variety of Halloween outfits participated. Organizers say it's a safe and unique event.

"Controlled weather for one, safe, lit, they know what they're getting and we've got a great bunch of people that work with us here and people want part of that as well and who doesn't want to hang out with a crazy chicken," said organizer Kevin McCarty.

Organizers say in just the first hour, more than a thousand people showed up.
