Tammy Baldwin has slight lead in U.S. Senate race, new poll says

Democrat Tammy Baldwin is leading in the race for U.S. Senate, according to the latest Marquette Law School poll.

Baldwin received 47 percent support in the poll compared to Republican Tommy Thompson at 43 percent among likely voters. The margin of error is +/- 2.8%.

This is compared to a poll two weeks ago that showed Baldwin behind by one point.

Voter turnout will be critical, experts say, because the race is a dead heat among likely voters who also follow politics closely.

Baldwin and Thompson recently met in their third and final debate in Milwaukee. According to the poll, likely voters were split on who won that debate, 45 to 45 percent.
