If you have too much candy from Halloween, you can turn it into cash. Several dentists in north-central Wisconsin are offering to buy back candy. Many are taking the sweets and sending them overseas to our troops. Gilchrist Dental Care in Stevens Point is doing that. Dentists there offered a dollar a pound for leftover candy from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.
"They have a lot of fun with the trick or treating," says Dr. Dan Gilchrist. "They end up with a lot more candy than what's either healthy for them to eat, or what they actually want. So with this program it encourages kids to bring that surplus candy in."
Gilchrist says they will still be collecting candy for another week, before they send it overseas.
