UPDATE: Marshfield man accused of recording women in hotel bathroom stall

UPDATE: A Marshfield man is accused of using his cell phone to record a 15-year-old girl changing in a hotel bathroom.

29-year-old Joseph Wright is charged with Capturing an Image of Nudity and Invading Privacy - Using a Surveillance Device. Police say he placed his cell phone in a bathroom stall of women's bathroom at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Marshfield while it was recording.

According to a criminal complaint, the girl told a Marshfield police officer that she has been at the hotel on October 7. She said that she went into the bathroom to change out of her swimsuit. When she was done changing she noticed a cell phone on the floor near the garbage can in the stall. The girl picked up the phone and said she thought it was recording at the time, according to the complaint.

Police say that Wright reported that his cell phone was missing from the front desk of the hotel on the same day, according to the criminal report.

Marshfield detectives reviewed the video and found that the cell phone had been recording and captured video of a mostly nude woman in the bathroom stall, according to the criminal complaint. Detectives also found video of a man, that they said resembled Wright, setting the phone down and running out of the bathroom stall, according to the complaint.

A Marshfield detective went to Wright's home where he says Wright admitted to recording the girl changing in addition to making several other recordings over the last three months of women changing in and out of their swimsuits in the bathroom, according to the complaint.

Wright is scheduled to be in Wood County court on December 3.

The Comfort Inn General Manager told Newsline 9, she just found out about the accusations against Wright on Friday. She's says Wright is no longer an employee there, and the hotel is improving its security to prevent this from happening again.
