WAUSAU (WAOW) -
Students at A.C. Kiefer Educational Center selected Old King Cole as their favorite nursery rhyme character on Tuesday.
The king overcame an early deficit to defeat Mary Had a Little Lamb, Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater, and Little Miss Muffet.
There is no word on whether the celebration concluded with a concert from the fiddlers three.
You may have to be 18 to vote, but students at A.C. Kiefer Educational Center in Wausau are already exercising their civic duty.
Monday morning, pre-schoolers listened to passionate pleas from candidates vying to be the favorite nursery rhyme.
This year's choices are Old King Cole, Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater, Little Miss Muffet, and Mary Had a Little Lamb.
So, who has a leg up in the election?
"I have no idea," says A.C. Kiefer Principal Connie Zebro. "Depends on if the spider scares them and makes them want to vote or if it was the nice Mary Had a Little Lamb, who gets to bring her animals to school."
On Tuesday, students will tally their votes on a chart to see which nursery rhyme has the bragging rights for the next four years.
