Making snow on Granite Peak

A winter wonderland is unfolding on Granite Peak Ski Hill. Crews began using the snow guns at the top of the hill at midnight. Workers say they will continue to make snow, as long as the weather stays on the cold side.

The snow made by machine and a light dusting released by Mother Nature have created a beautiful scene on the hill. Small trees and brush are coated with fluffy white flakes.

Crews are also putting a new ski lift through its paces, before the hill opens for the season. Newsline 9 talked with a hill spokesperson, Monday, we learned that they are still hoping to open by this weekend. However, they say that will depend upon Mother Nature. If they are unable to open November 17, the next targeted opening  is Thanksgiving.

Granite Peak is located on Rib Mountain State Park. The ski hill has 74 runs and two chalets.
