WAUSAU (WAOW) -
The Village of Weston is planning to partner with a neighboring city to bring bus service back.
Village officials say the City of Schofield has budgeted to partner with the Wausau Metro Ride next year to provide transportation to the village. Weston residents voted in June to bring the service back. But last week, they defeated a referendum to pay for it.
"The next step will be to sit down and to work with the City of Wausau, the City of Schofield and NAOMI and bus advocates and citizens, both for and against the service here in the community, to try and find a compromise position and to move forward," said Village Administrator, Daniel Guild.
The City of Schofield has agreed to pay for seven daily runs. But the village of Weston is required to provide 12 runs. A public hearing is scheduled for December 10th.
