It's the kind of rainy night where you just want to stay in and curl up on the couch, Tim Goli and I are out on a mission. It's my first time racoon hunting, and I'm surprised to hear that the dogs do all of the tracking.
While the canines hunt the raccoon, we can keep close track of them with a GPS. Once we hear elevated excitement in the barking, and the GPS says they've stopped moving, that's our cue to head in.
It's clear which tree the dogs chased the raccoon up, but what's not so clear is looking upward in the rain when it's dark trying to find a grey and black critter.
Goli says, "Its tough sometimes, they tuck and hide and it's hard to see what you're shooting at."
I leave my kill with Goli, he sells the hides to a local fur buyer. I'm just happy to cross raccoon hunting off my list.
