Stores in our area are slammed with hunters getting ready
for Saturday.
The owner of
Central Wisconsin Firearms in Wausau tells Newsline 9, they do about 40% of
their business during the fall.
"it's
been crazy," said Frederick Prehn, Central
Wisconsin Firearms Owner. "It's deer
season, and people are getting everything from their old father's guns to new
guns, to scopes, to rings, to ammunition. It's like a last minute rush for the
opening season"
Aaron Schoepke
is one of the last minute shoppers. He's picking up extra ammunition before the
weekend.
"I look
forward to this every year," says Schoepke "just the friends, the
family, the hunting of course. I look forward to it every year."
Schoepke
lives in Arizona, but grew up in central Wisconsin. He says he returns to the
area every year to hunt with his dad.
"I can't
even explain it. It's amazing, you know. It's freezing, but you're not cold.
It's fun. Just being out there with my dad every year."
As Schoepke
prepares to bag a buck, Prehn is turning that business into bucks of his own.
"We're
overnighting stuff in from our distributors," said Prehn
Some people come in want to buy a brand new gun. Well they gotta get it set in
before the big opening morning. We're in a time crunch."
Prehn says
the store also expects a busy day on Saturday, as hunters return to pick up forgotten
items.
