RIB MOUNTAIN (WAOW) -

The driver officers say hit a child with his car today in Rib Mountain has been found after leaving the scene.

The crash happened at the intersection of Robin Lane and Hummingbird Lane.

A Marathon County Sheriff's lieutenant says a 7-year-old girl was hit shortly after school at about 3:45 p.m.

Earlier reports said multiple children were hit by the car, but the lieutenant said just one child was actually hit. A second child was there but was not hit by the car.

The lieutenant said the 16-year-old driver did not stop, but he was later found. The driver will be charged with a count of hit-and-run causing injuries, officials said.

The girl was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but officers say she is going to be fine.
