WAUSAU (WAOW) -
A Wausau church is celebrating the start of the gun deer hunt in a bright, traditional way.
About a hundred people gathered for a deer hunter service at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Wausau. A sea of blaze orange filled the congregation, to honor the gun deer hunt. The pastor says this is a yearly tradition for the church.
"Last year my daughter Christine got a nice 8 pointer and her first buck so that was exciting and the year before that I got a nice 8 pointer as well," said Pastor Bruce Lamont.
After the service the church gave away several antler mounts to celebrate the start of the hunt.
