School raises money for charity

Some elementary students in our area are selling hot cocoa for charity.

Fifth graders at Bannach Elementary School in Stevens Point held the school's third annual hot cocoa for hunger sale today.

The proceeds go to an organization that helps children in third world countries.

The students play an important role in organizing the event.

"It was so neat, kids were bringing in money from their piggy banks and extra funds and they're so proud that they're able to do this," said Jill Schraufnagel, Bannach Elementary School teacher.

The sale raised 550 dollars, and organizers say they hope the event will continue to grow.
