MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) -
A 54-year-old man was arrested after a high-speed police chase in Marathon County Monday night.
According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, 54-year-old Randy Young of St. Germain was stopped near the Casimir Road exit late Monday afternoon for a traffic violation. After handing over his identification, he drove away.
Authorities say the chase topped speeds of 100 miles per hour.
Police say Young eventually pulled to the shoulder of the road near mile marker 173 and got out of his vehicle, but he did not respond to the troopers' commands.
When the state trooper tried to call to Young, he didn't respond and when authorities tried to take him into custody, they noticed he had cut his throat with a knife.
An off duty Lincoln County officer helped tend to Young's wounds until emergency crews arrived on scene.
Aspirus Wausau Hospital officials say Young is in fair condition.
Police say he will be charged with operating after revocation, felony fleeing an officer, and open intoxicants.
