The Salvation Army in Wausau hosted a traditional Thanksgiving meal today. It featured turkey and all the tradition fixings. Organizers predicted up to 200 people would show up.
The free meal was prepared and served by volunteers from the Greenheck Fan Company in Weston. Workers said they enjoyed giving their time and helping out those who might be alone or not have anywhere to go to enjoy a holiday meal.
Salvation Army leaders say their daily feeding program continues to see strong demand. However, it will not be held on Thanksgiving. The annual Friends Dinner is held on Thanksgiving at the First Presbyterian Church in Wausau. Everyone is welcome to that event.
