Volunteers give time to work on food drive

Peyton's Promise is a popular food drive in the Weston area. Today volunteers for the organization gathered at a church to sort through donated items. Organizers say they have been collecting at Pick 'n Save stores and area schools.

Already, they say about 5.5 tons of food has been collected. The food will be given to area food pantries. Also, they have put together 10 food baskets to be delivered to families in need this holiday.

The food drive will wrap up for the year in December. D.C. Everest schools have been competing for top honors in the collection. Organizers say the school that gives the most will be given free passes to the Grand Lodge Water park in Rothschild.
