WAUSAU (WAOW) -
The snow fell just hours before many people planned to head home after the Thanksgiving holiday.
Transportation officials said this is a very busy travel day across the state as holiday travelers and hunters head back home.
State Patrol officers said while road conditions have improved a lot since last night and this morning, you still need to be careful if you plan on hitting the road.
"It shouldn't be a big issue until maybe later in the evening when the temperatures drop a little bit more and what is melted on the highway starts to freeze up so they should be aware of those changing conditions and adjust their speed and time for travel accordingly," said Rob Hartson.
Wisconsin Transportation officials said most road construction projects were completed on schedule before the Thanksgiving holiday.
