RIB MOUNTAIN (WAOW) -
It was an exciting day on Rib
Mountain, as Granite
Peak opened for the first run of the season.
"There's a lot of excitement building up to
the first day," said Michael Zeller. "The first run is just insane, so
much fun."
Michael Zeller, and his friends, made the trip from Green Bay for opening day at Granite
Peak.
"Oh it's been
great," said Zeller. "Not riding for a while and then finally getting
to ride again."
Because of unusually warm weather this month, the ski hill opened
a few days later than usual this year. Ski officials say the recent cold
temperatures allowed them to make enough snow to open two runs.
Mother Nature helped out too, providing a blanket of fresh
snow. And plenty of skiers and snowboarders headed to rib mountain to take
advantage of it.
"we had a good turn out," said Vicki Baumann,
Granite Peak General Manager. "A lot of season pass holders. They've been
chomping at the bit and really excited."
Granite Peak will be closed this week, so the ski resort can make more
snow.
It's set to reopen for the season next
Saturday, December 1st.
