The Wausau Curling Center has delayed its previously scheduled opening of the new building. In a news release sent to Newsline 9, club members say the delay is unavoidable, due to unfinished work in the viewing area, club area and kitchen. The work must be done before the City of Wausau will issue permits for public use of the building.
In the meantime, club volunteers continue their efforts to finish the 8 sheets of ice. The ice was put on in painted layers of white. On Monday, volunteers spent the day chiseling the houses in the ice (those are basically targets curlers use to score points) inside the new center.
Curling Center Director, Cal Tillisch says some delays were expected and the focus is now on the December 8th when they plan to hold an open house.
