DNR Secretary says more women are hunting in Wisconsin

Posted:

Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Secretary Cathy Stepp is pleased with how this year's gun-deer season is playing out. Stepp made a stop in Wausau, to meet with community leaders about the Holtz-Krause landfill soccer field project.

Stepp says she is encouraged to  see more women are getting involved in hunting. She says nearly 30% of the new hunting registrations this year were for women. Stepp says, "Hunting is a great way for families to spend time together, and you know that is happening when women are out there. It is a way to hand down this Wisconsin tradition from generation to generation."

Stepp also  told Newsline 9 the hunt was a successful one, for her. She says she took a 7-point buck!
