Merrill native returns to home state for ACC-Big Ten game
MADISON (WAOW) -
Merrill native Paul Jesperson returns to his home state Wednesday, as a sophomore with the Virginia basketball team. He'll play on the Kohl Center court, where he helped the Blue Jays to a WIAA Division 2 state runner-up finish in March 2011.
This time, he'll be playing against Wisconsin as part of the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.
This is a web extra look at Jesperson's senior year at Merrill High School that included a 3/4 court shot that landed in ESPN's Top Ten and a state semifinal game in which he scored 27 points, to go along with six rebounds and five assists.
He wrapped the season by earning AP and Gatorade state player of the year honors.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.
