WAUSAU (WAOW) -
21 teachers started growing mustaches at Wausau West High School on November 1. They signed up to take part in the Movember movement. It is an international program aimed at raising awareness about men's health issues. The West team is called the Moustache Warriors.
Many students also took part in the project. Organizer, Brian Brandt says, "It has been fun. But, it is also a chance to create awareness about prostate and testicular cancer, which are often difficult topics for men to talk about. The mustaches are a way to make it a conversation piece."
While the men are billboards for the cause, they also raise money through donations on the Movember.com web page. The money that is raised goes to cancer fighting organizations.
The contest ends at midnight November 30. Then the participants must decide if they will shave off the facial hair they've grown.
