More than 200 Christmas trees from Wisconsin donated to troops

This Christmas will be a bit merrier for some of our troops.

Monday morning, American Legion members and local tree growers gathered at Marathon Park to send fresh trees to our soldiers.

Organizers said they loaded about 260 Christmas trees. They said it's all about honoring our troops and giving them a chance to celebrate the holiday tradition.

"Believe it or not, quite a few people respond and we get thank yous from all over the world and that makes us feel good, makes us want to keep doing what we're doing," said Charles Newby.

This is the fifth year for the program. The truck is headed to Fort Riley, Kansas. Organizers said the trees should arrive in about a week.
