The forecast has local law enforcement and road crews preparing for slippery conditions on area roads. Authorities say the first significant snowfall of the season usually catches drivers off guard.
Tow truck driver Sheldon Baumann spent Saturday prepping for the storm. He said the first snowfall can be dangerous.
"You'll see some roll-overs because the ground's not frozen yet and they slide-in sideways and then they roll-over," Baumann said.
He's on-call throughout the night in case drivers or local authorities need help towing cars in the snow. Forecasters say snow will start to blanket north central Wisconsin after midnight.
State patrol officers are urging drivers to slow down once the snow starts to fly.
"People get aggressive when they get into a hurry. If they know that they need to be someplace, they need to leave early to leave enough time to get there," Sgt. Carrie Johnson told Newsline 9.
Johnson said there will be drivers on the road Sunday despite the snow. "We know we have a Packer game tomorrow so people will be commuting through the area."
Police are also warning drivers to watch out for snow plows and to leave plenty of following room. And they say if you don't have to hit the road tomorrow, stay home.
