Pointers Earn Wins in Basketball, Ice Hockey


It was a winning day for both Pointers' basketball teams as well as the men's ice hockey team.

The men's basketball team remained undefeated at 7-0 after giving Augustana College its first loss of the season. Clayton Heuer scored a season-high 20 points as the Pointers defeated the Vikings, 67-59.

UWSP trailed at halftime, 28-25, but Heuer scored eight of his team's first nine points in the second half to tie the game at 34.

The Pointers' next game is on Wednesday night when it faces league rivals UW-Whitewater, who is also undefeated.

The men's ice hockey team defeated UW-Stout in overtime, 4-3, sweeping the weekend series against the Blue Devils.

Andrew Kolb scored the game-winning goal just 1:27 into the extra period. It was Kolb's third goal of the season. UWSP improves to 7-5-1 and will return to action on Dec. 29.

The women's basketball team defeated University of Chicago on the road, 83-69.
