Racing fans packed State Park Speedway in Rib Mountain Saturday. It was the first day of the racing season and a chance for fans to remember racing icon, Dick Trickle. People at the track observed a moment of silence for Trickle. He died Thursday in an apparent suicide at the age of 71. Two teachers got a haircut all for a good cause.
Students raised money for leukemia and lymphoma awareness.
The teachers said if they students reached their goal, the teachers would shave their heads.
“It was just an incentive to help the kids have a tangible reward, and I think it was an exciting experience for them, and we’ll see how cold I am this winter from it," said Rob Perkins, band director.
The goal was 2,500 dollars.
They were just a hair short of that, but the teachers decided to get the buzz cuts anyway.
