Abuck in Adams County has been found with Chronic Wasting Disease. Itis the first positive case in the county, according to the WisconsinDepartment of Natural Resources.
The3-year-old deer was found in north-central Adams County, the DNRsaid, south of Lake Arrowhead and east of Petenwell Flowage.
Ina news release, DNR area wildlife supervisor Kris Johansen said,“Being the first CWD positive in the county makes this noteworthy,but not unexpected. We have been collecting samples in the countygiven its proximity to the south central Wisconsin core of infectionand to CWD-positive deer on a former captive deer farm in the area.”
TheDNR is analyzing other deer samples collected in Adams County in aneffort to detect the disease.
