The mild temperatures have delayed a much anticipated event in downtown Wausau; it's the opening of the ice skating rink on the 400 block.
Parks and Recreation officials say it's been too warm outside to make ice and get the rink up and running.
They hope temperatures will cool down.
"We pulled off ice making operations till at least Sunday night, it's supposed to drop down to about 23 or 24 degrees and it's supposed to be cooler next week, so the 20th is still our target date and it's not beyond reach yet but everything has to work together temperature wise in order for that date to happen," said Ken Krueger, Wausau Parks and Recreation Ops Manager.
Ice skating is free and open to the public as soon as it opens.
