It's not everyday Santa shows up at your door. But for
families in Park Ridge,
Thursday night was their special chance.
Members of the Park Ridge Fire Department delivered holiday
candy to dozens of children.
It's an annual tradition that dates back to the 19-40's. Except
back then, Santa rode in a sleigh, not a fire engine.
"You can go to a mall and you can see Santa there," said Ron Slicer, Park Ridge Fire Chief. "You could do those types of things, but to actually have Santa
come to your house, and visit the kids, they really get excited about it."
Organizers say they stopped at 30 houses, delivering holiday
cheer to more than 60 children.
