Pack Attack Week 15: Sam Shields

Posted:

WESTON (WAOW) - We have had a good run of luck with our guests this year with more of the same this week.

Defensive back Sam Shields returned from injury last Sunday and instantly came up with an interception. This week, Shields drew three interference calls, held a receiver to zero yards and he's had five pass break ups in the past two games. He is also our guest Monday.

In the 2010 NFC Championship game he became the first rookie in NFL history to record two interceptions and a sack in a playoff game.

Here is more information from his Packers.com bio:

  • Re-assumed the nickel role behind veterans Tramon Williams and Charles Woodson in his second season and set career highs with 15 games played, seven starts, 36 tackles (32 solo), four interceptions, 14 passes defensed and a forced fumble.
  • As a non-drafted free agent, earned nickel cornerback job in 2010 as a rookie despite playing defensive back just one season in college.
  • In 2010, matched his regular-season total with two interceptions in the NFC Championship at Chicago, becoming just the fifth player in franchise history to record two interceptions in a playoff game.
Join Sports Director Lauren Magiera, Bryon Graff, Sam Shields and Johnnie Gray at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Dale's Weston Lanes. You can also watch it Tuesday night at 6:30 on Newsline 9.
