It is a very special time at Newman St. Mark Elementary in Rothschild. The 130 students enrolled in pre-school through 5th grade are taking part in The Giving Store.
This annual event, gives children the opportunity to purchase gifts for their family members. Organizers say it is a great way for the children to experience the joy of season and help others, at the same time.
When Newsline 9 stopped by, the first graders were making their gift selections. The younger students are often helped by older students or adults as they make their way through the gymnasium filled with donated items. Once the children have make their selections, they wrap the gifts and carry them back to their classrooms.
The money raised through Giving Store sales is given to area charities. Each classroom selects a charity, which to receive a monetary donation.
