NWS: Man made snow falls in Wausau area, contributes to crashes

WAUSAU (WAOW) - The National Weather Service in Green Bay issued a special notice about slick roads in Wausau.

According to the statement, man made snow from the ski hill fell in Wausau and Rib Mountain Wednesday morning.

But interestingly enough, it wasn't from mother nature.

"The wind conditions and humidity might have been just right and possibly the way snow guns were pointed and we tried to correct it as soon as possible," said Granite Peak Lift Operations Manager, Brandon Marquardt.

Newsline 9 contacted the Marathon County Sheriff's Department, The Wisconsin State Patrol, and The Wausau Police Department to see how many weather related crashes occurred due to this issue, but all three departments said none.
