Professional ice skater teaches skills to Weston youth

The spinning, jumping and excitement of ice skating is keeping the Greenheck Field House in Weston a busy place.

That's where the Timberline Skating Club is offering ice skating lessons to get more people interested in the sport.

"I like spinning" five-year-old skater Georgi Lynn Hinzman told Newsline 9.

Hinzman's reaction to ice skating makes coach Brittyni Carlson smile.

Carlson learned to ice skate at Greenheck Field House.  She took the skills learned as a child and became a professional ice skater in Europe.

"I learned so much there so I want to bring that and teach it to the kids because it was such an amazing experience."

And that she is doing.  Montana Grabowski, a 13-year-old ice skater spending this winter working on some new skating moves.

"I get to do whatever I want and I never get sweaty or anything" Grabowski said smiling.
